Her surname is Bea to pay tribute to her late father. Aisling O'Sullivan, also known as Cliodhnadh Aisling, was born at Kildare town, which is located in County Kildare. Bea's father Brian was a veterinarian for horses who died by suicide when she was just three years old. She didn't discover the reason of her death until thirteen years later. In 2017 she published an article in The Guardian about the suicide of her father's family. She also adopted her stage name Bea in tribute. Bea (and her younger sister Sinead) was raised in the same home as Helen Moloney, a teacher and jockey trainer who was a professional jockey. The family was racing and horse-related. Bea was initially a tourist guide at the Irish National Stud. But she quickly realized that her passion was for doing and not racing.
